Lively Velachery

With proximity to IT corridor and a host of commercial activities, I think Velachery, originally known as Vedasreni meaning Abode of Vedas, would be one of the best places to live down the line. With new apartments, springing up every now and then, the demography of velachery has completely changed from a sleepy suburb to a lively haven. Due to its proximity to the software district and good connectivity to the city, Velachery is a real estate developer's delight. It is a shopper’s paradise. You name it, Velachery has it. There is Naihaa, Venfield, Arrow and many more. For those of you, who are food lovers, don’t fret. There are some first-class hotels and restaurants like Rathna Cafe, Dominos Pizza, KFC, MCD and Sangeetha. Good schools like Arsha Vidya Mandir, DAV Public school, Pon Vidyashram School and Sunshine are present.
Velachery is set to change with a sprawling two million-square feet mall coming up near Guru Nanak College. It is christened Chennai Market City and the size would be the biggest mall in the city, toppling Express Avenue, which has a built-up space of less than one million square feet. That said, Velachery is all set to be the next Adayar in a few years from now.

Soil Testing

Soil testing is indispensable in the construction sector and it is necessary before building a new structure to prevent the failure of the foundations at a later stage and also to leave a good heritage for the future generations. Recognizing this paramount need, we have completed soil investigation for our project. A well known consulting engineer group, a Chennai based private firm has tested soil samples and they have recommended foundations as per the nature of soil. A few images from the site are here.

A Good start with Bhoomi Puja

We were so happy to have performed a propitious bhoomi puja at an auspicious date as a sign of inaugurating the construction process. We chose the pooja date to be on 26nd April, 2012 from 4 am to 5 am, which was suggested by our gurukal for a pleasant blissful onset. We are happy to post some of the pictures of the puja here.

Rambling with names

It took a little while for us to choose a business name. I frantically started searching for names in lalitha sasharanamam in a bid to peek at sanskrit words. My husband and I, invariably, wanted a traditional name for our business. It so happened that my little daughter was reciting Gayathri Mantra and since I was preoccupied with names hunt, the last word of the mantra- Prachodaya caught my attention. I liked the resonance of the word and felt the very word was full of harmony. I quickly searched for its meaning and it meant Englighten, guide and inspire. I thought it was appropriate and that's how we coined the name PRACHODAYA HOMES. It is true that a great name is the beginning of a great brand.

Our Business Anecdote

The story is not a great one, but we really want to put this forward to the world in a precise manner through this blog. My husband and I love travelling a lot and where ever we go, we would stare at buildings and our topic of the discussion would be about them. Ever since, we bought a home for ourselves, the passion has only increased. From then on, we have lovingly nurtured our dream. The overwhelming passion has cajoled us into building not just houses but homes.

First time blogger, Long time reader!!

Here I am...My first blog as a first time blogger! Writing down random thoughts and then just posting them out there has always fascinated me. To be honest I'm not quite sure how to classify my blog but am always inspired when reading into others blogs so I decided to give a try myself. I am no English Lit. Major and am neither a poetic nor an elegant writer as some of the other blogs I have stumbled upon.
